Women’s Jamaican Soccer Team: Reggae Girlz

Jamaica has a women’s football club called the Reggae Girlz that is ranked 4th in their region. They just CRUSHED it this past weekend, defeating St. Lucia 14-0 & the Dominican Republic 7-0. They are obviously good enough to play in the 2015 Women’s World Cup in Canada. The only problem? The Jamaica Football Federation provides the women’s football program with very little funding. As a result, they’re not able to do basic things like travel to play in practice matches, pay for proper coaching or housing or even cover their expenses to the next qualifying match. And that may ultimately prevent them from taking part in the World Cup in 2015.

Cedella Marley—the eldest daughter of Bob and Rita Marley—is trying to make sure that doesn’t happen. She knows that she can’t guarantee that Jamaica will be represented at the World Cup in 2015. But at the very least, she wants to give the Reggae Girlz every shot to succeed and became the ambassador for the football club. She’s helping spread the word about the team— to raise money so that the team can pay for travel, training and other things that they’ll need to continue to Strike Hard!
What We Need & What You Get
In order to get the Reggae Girlz to the next qualifying round in Trinidad, August 19th – 26th, we need to raise at least an additional $50,000.
This amount will go towards a few weeks of coaching, housing, proper nutrition and proper training to keep the Reggae Girlz at the top of their game. http://reggaegirlz.com
